Nature Journal

Many of us want to build a stronger connection with the natural world.

There is a well-documented correlation between time spent interacting with nature and our enhanced well-being. We benefit physically, mentally, and spiritually when our relationship with nature is strong. (See Resources page).

Journaling is a powerful way to strengthen our feeling of communion with nature. By consciously recording our observations, thoughts, and feelings, we awaken to our inherent one-ness with the natural world, and we enliven these bonds.

Through journaling, we slow down, and enter into a state of mindfulness in which we are more observant. This mindful state lifts us out of our tendency to become lost in thought, and promotes conscious, focused attention.

Journaling can take many forms: writing, sketching, collecting items, photography, or most commonly, a combination of different forms. If you have ever wanted to keep a nature journal, the structured prompts in this journal will help you get started and will help you to deepen your experience once you get going.

When we intentionally set out to observe nature and our place within it (and nature’s place within ourselves) we find ourselves becoming more conscious of the connection we have always had, but sometimes forget in our busy day-to-day lives.
